The Western Electric style payphone is most commonly used by AT&T and Bell Atlantic. It has a proven track record and is a good pay station. This product generally costs a little more than other styles, therefore you will see more GTE style phones in the private sector. NTC only uses this style coin payphone in its' operation.
The GTE style coin payphone has been the leader in the private sector. The internal workings have undergone many changes and improvements throughout the years. You can tell the two styles apart by the location of the coin slot location on the top of the phone. The Western Electric phone has its' coin slot on the left front, while the GTE style has its' coin slot on the right front.
